About UsDoberman Rescue League Inc. started out in 1977, as a non–profit corporation comprised of volunteers who were willing to give their time, expertise, homes and loving care to help place Dobermans in need of rescue. We are a 501(c) (3) registered with the Florida *Department of Agriculture and all donations are tax deductible. The South Florida area is renowned for being a dumping ground for animals that are no longer wanted. The number of owner surrenders has increased as people have faced hardships. Sometimes these dogs have been mistreated, neglected or have been injured. On average we take in nearly 90 Dobermans a year. Education is the key to owner retention and we are often able to assist hardship cases to help owners keep their Dobermans. Our rescue assures all of our dogs are up to date on their shots, Heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Some come injured or abused and it may take a little longer to ready them for a forever home. Our adoption area is within the state of Florida. All applicants are preapproved with a home visit and veterinary reference checks to insure our dogs are afforded a chance at a healthy, loving rest of their life after an uneasy beginning. We are a volunteer only rescue comprised of very special people who are willing to give their time, expertise, homes and loving care to help place Dobermans in need of rescue and LOVE.
