8/8/23. Hi my name is DIEGO and I am looking for my furever family. For those of u that don’t know me, I was surrendered to rescue back in January and unbeknownst to everyone had swallowed a billiard ball before coming to rescue. I was also heartworm positive but of course no one told the nice people at the rescue that. So I survived swallowing a billiard ball after extensive surgery and finished my heartworm treatment and am now ready to go to my furever home. I am your typical Velcro Doberman, I love to be with you at all times. I love to play ball and play outside. I’m super smart and won’t pick up anything I am not supposed to and in fact if I see something that looks sketchy will even bring it to you. I love ALL people big and little but because of my size and strength I am better suited for older kids and teens. I love to ride in the car, love my frosty paws treats. I am fully house and crate trained, walk fairly well on leash but can be dog reactive. No cats for me please but with proper introduction I might like another female dog to play around with.  I’m just a big cuddle bug waiting for the right Doberman experienced family to find me.

6/11/23.  Remember "Diego" who ate the billiard ball and had heart-worm treatment? Well he is ready for his forever home. A few notes from his foster below. He might prefer to be an only dog but with an experienced owner possibly a female might be ok with proper introduction. But NO to cats. Diego- will be 20 months old on June 28th.
  •  recovered from surgical removal of billiard pool ball and neuter in February.
  • Finished heart-worm treatment and received negative HW test May 27th.

  • Needs an experienced Doberman owner.
  • Would be better fit with someone with a large fenced yard. He loves to be outside and running around.
  • Is reactive to other dogs and cats
  • high prey drive for lizards
  • Must be near “his” person at all times. 100% + Velcro Doberman. He will be attached to your hip LITERALLY!!
  • Must be kept busy or he gets bored and will pace and “cry”.  Will Keep busy with Nyla-bones, antlers, hollow marrow bones.  He loves and needs to be chewing.
  • Loves toys
  • Will want you to play with his toys with him, has very sharp teeth and will sometimes “nibble, flea bite” when playing.
  • Will snuggle between your legs on recliner if you let him.
  • Loves frozen treat lick mats
  • Loves frosty paws
  • Loves a good treat puzzle
  • Great car rider - prefers to sit in a seat if it’s an SUV vs being in the back.
  • Will be reactive in the car if he has head out window and you pass a dog walking
  • He’s “ok” on a leash, but again reactive if sees another dog.  He is very strong and will PULL you.
  • Loves all people- he is a people’s dog
  • Crate trained
  • Potty/house trained
  • location in South Florida
1/30/23. He is doing great but still short in what we need to pay vet bills between this and heartworm...Emergency Fundraiser for "Diego". We took in this young dobie last week and he went into a foster but immediately started showing signs something wasn't right. Other than being von willebrand positive and heartworm positive, his stomach seemed off. After further testing we discovered he had a foreign body. Our Fantastic vet and staff tried to pass it with fluids but it wouldn't budge. So the surgery was risky but he wouldn't survive without it. Once in there the surgical staff was surprised to see a Billard #14 ball. It's a medium ball with a lot of weight to it.
